Aidan is responsible to the Board of Trustees for the leadership, management and control of the Students’ Union, ensuring in particular, financial stability, and legal compliance, effective delivery of all services and the continuing development and progression of long term strategy. Aidan also provides support to the Executive officers.

Jackie Berry, Deputy Chief Executive
Jackie is our Deputy Chief Executive and is responsible for the leadership of the Commercial Services team to achieve our vision of being the number one union commercial services for turnover and profitability in the UK. Jackie also supports Aidan with the support of the Executive officers and is responsible for the premises of LUU, line managing the Facilities department.
Jackie is overseeing all the forthcoming work on LUU’s Building Master Plan which will see a number of changes and improvements in LUUs building over the next few years.

Kevin Pearson, Director of Resources
Kevin oversees key elements of LUU’s central and corporate services – Finance, HR, and IT. In addition to management of these areas, he has direct responsibilities for LUU’s strategic financial planning, internal financial control systems, and wider risk management.

Alison Dumphy, Executive Assistant
Alison provides support to the Chief Executive and Directors in the fulfillment of their objectives and also supports the work of the Board of Trustees and subcommittees, leading on work relating to LUU’s organisational governance. Alison is also the person to contact in the absence of the Chief Executive and Directors.

Diane Pedder, Acting Membership Services Manager
Diane has overall responsibility for our membership departments: Student Advice Centre, Joblink, Helpdesk, Campaigns and Democracy Support, Student Activities and Volunteering and Community. Diane also shares in the mentoring two of Executive Officers.

Gail Hardwick, Student Employment and Helpdesk Manager
Gail oversees the running of LUU’s student job centre, recruitment agency, LUU’s Helpdesk and the Foyer area. Her focus is income generation through Joblink and ensuring that the service meets the employability and financial needs of members and helps employers to access staff. She is currently working to develop our Foyer area.

Geoff Banks, Student Activities Manager
Geoff Banks is the Student Activities Manager at LUU. He manages a team of staff to deliver support and development opportunities to students running sports clubs, societies, and volunteering groups. This means that all students of the University of Leeds get high quality leisure time activities to enhance their experience!

James Robertson, Campaigns & Democracy Support Manager
CDS exists to help students love their time at Leeds by helping them get what they want using representative democratic systems and campaigning. As manager of the department it is James’ job to make sure this happens effectively.

Steve Keeble, Venues Manager
Steve joined LUU in August 2001 and has overseen a significant growth in the provision of night time entertainment. Steve is responsible for all aspects of our nighttime venues. This includes the Events department, Stylus, Pulse, Mine, the Refectory and Security. Steve is also responsible for delivering all aspects of the Summer Ball, the largest student only event in the UK.

Kevin Hogarth, Retail Operations Manager
Kevin leads the Retail Management team and Retail Operation which consists of six LUU owned shops; Essentials, Extras, Union Books, Cats, Gear and Changing Gear.
His primary objective is to generate profit that can be used to fund the Union’s student membership services. Coupled with the responsibility of developing the retail shops product ranges and services, ensuring that these cater for the diverse needs of our membership. This is achieved by listening to, engaging with, and involving our student members.

Darren Buntin, Bars Operations Manager
Darren’s role at LUU is to oversee the day to day operations of the bars inside the union building which includes the Old Bar, the Terrace and the Wicked Cafe. He offers support and guidance to the bars team and bar managers in their mission to make sure that everyone has a great time and loves using the bars in the Union.
Darren also works closely with Leeds City Licensing Association and Best Bar None scheme.

Antonia Frezza, HR & Administration Manager
Antonia develops and implements LUU’s HR strategy, manages the HR team and works alongside the managers to help and support them in managing their staff. Antonia is a full Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. Antonia works four days a week and on the fifth day she works for the Students’ Union Evaluation Initiative advising other Students’ Unions who are working towards their SUEI accreditation.

Alan Hill, Facilities Manager
Alan’s department has responsibility for the upkeep and cleaning of the building, including repairs, maintenance and refurbishments; intruder access; CCTV and telephone systems; and the staff in cleaning and building services sections. Alan also manages Health and Safety, environmental issues, recycling, and energy consumption.

Richard Simpson, Facilities Manager
Richard is responsible for the overall running of the Finance Department, covering creditors, debtors, cash book and banking, nominal ledgers and the weekly payroll. He produces commentary our financial results for the Senior Managers and when necessary for the Audit & Risk Committee and Board meetings. He assists with the completion of the annual budgets and the ongoing forecasts. He is also responsible for producing the year end accounts.

Tom Salmon, Marketing Manager
Tom oversees the Union’s marketing, research, PR and communications. His focus is on making the Union easy to understand and simple to engage with. Tom helps the Union’s management teams to explore and understand what students want from the Union.
