What are you doing?
Encouraging more students to take up cycling and getting better bike lanes and locks for those who already do.
Why are you doing it?
Cycling is fun, healthy, green and cheap. However bikes lanes are few and far between and secure lock ups are inadequate.
How are you doing it?
Furthering the Velocampus bike hire scheme for students, introducing cycle lanes between halls, the train station and campus and bettering the access and security facilities for cycling on campus.
What have you acheived so far?
Velocampus is a joint project between LUU, Leeds University, Leeds Met and Sustrans and so far the first wave of 100 bikes have all been hired out.
The development stages for the cycle lanes between University and halls of residence are nearing an end hopefully to be approved by city councillors and then implemented.
