Theatre Group (TG) is Leeds University's only society dedicated entirely to many different styles of theatre. We produce a variety of plays across the campus and city throughout the year.
We also run discounted trips to the theatre, professional standard workshops and social trips abroad.
Every year we produce around 12 plays, a number of festivals, and even take two plays to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where we are usually greeted with good reviews.
All are welcome; actors, writers, directors, producers, technicians, designers, stage managers. We try to cater for all ambitions, design ideas and tastes
Auditions for next semester's shows will be listed on the TG website and Facebook group in the build up to term.
The production is taking place on the 9th, 10th and 11th February at Seven Arts Theatre in Chapel Allerton at 7.30pm.
Tickets will be available to purchase in the University Union Foyer and online at a price of £8 and £6 concession for students.
'Much Ado About Nothing'
One of Shakespeare's most loved comedies is brought to Leeds with a twist of the roaring twenties as we follow the tormented relationship of Hero and her Claudio, alongside the erratic and somewhat immature nature of their comedic counterparts, Beatrice and Benedick. Set in the post-war era the play is wrought with laughter, wit, love and the dazzling glitter of 1920s England.
The production takes place at 7:30pm on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd March in Chapel Allerton at the Seven Arts Theatre.
'DysFUNKtional', by Olivia James
Elizabeth Saunders is intent on creating the perfect party to welcome her soon to be born Grandson into the world, but her three daughters seem intent on spoiling the festivities. A satirical new comedy focusing on the modern obsession with sexuality and celebrity reality itself.
This production is taking place from Wednesday 7th to Saturday 10th March at 7:30pm in the Alec Clegg Studio in Stage @ Leeds.

'Edgar and Annabel', by Sam Holcroft
A young married couple prepare dinner in a smartly furnished kitchen. Annabel is composed, intelligent, in love. Edgar is professional, successful, assured. She’s chopping vegetables, he’s brought the wine. But something isn’t right. In a city not so different from our own capital, a group of freedom fighters attempt to stand up to an Orwellian establishment in increasingly perilous circumstances. Sam Holcroft’s ingenious new play paints a picture of a police state in crisis. The story that unfolds brings into question relationships, identities and the very nature of reality itself…
Auditions for this epic dystopian production to be confirmed...WATCH THIS SPACE!!
